Davis Auto Center was started in 1949 by M. Carter Davis after he got out of the Army. He saw a need for used cars and parts, due to the shortage of metal that was needed to fund the war effort. As business grew and grew, he changed with the times.

His son Carter Jr. grew into the family business in 1970, after graduating from college. Carter Jr. took what his father had started and ran with it. Expanding the used parts operation and building the current office building were some of his first major changes. Along the way Carter Sr. & Jr. expanded the used car sales, used parts sales, and started Rent-A-Ride.

The third generation, Jamie, Carter Jr.'s son, is continuing the family business with the values that both his grandfather and father have instilled in him.
